First Official Weightlifting Meet (4 Weeks Out)

Last week, I officially registered as an Olympic Lifter under the Ontario Weightlifting Association. Right after, I registered for my very first meet in London, Ontario for the Hybrid Open. I am really excited to just get a total for this meet and officially start competing! I think I am going to be training through this meet.

Expectations:

  1. GET A TOTAL!
  2. GET PROVINCIAL STANDARD (145)
  3. GET A SNATCH PR
  4. GET A CLEAN AND JERK PR
  5. GET NATIONAL STANDARD (157) **BIG BONUS**
  6. IF ALL OF THE ABOVE ARE COMPLETE DRINK LOTS OF WINE AND A BIG STEAK

I have some goals in terms of lifts that I would love to hit. In the snatch, I would love to get 70kg and on a good day it would be 73kg (this is all going to be depending on how training is going). For the clean and jerk, I am really going to go for my number! I am looking to hit 87kg and on a good day it will be 89kg.  No Pressure right? I’ll be more comfortable with this post in a couple of weeks.

Main Concerns

CUTTING! – I am competing in the 69kg/152lbs  weight class and I am floating around 155 right now. Apparently 3 pounds is no big deal but HANGRY Quinnie is the bigger deal. I’ll decide in a couple of days whether I’m going to do this the easy way or the hard way.
